Round-up

Best Zoho Recruit alternatives (2026): tested standalone picks

The best Zoho Recruit alternative for most small teams is Manatal (tested 9/10): a standalone ATS with AI sourcing included at $15 per user a month billed annually. Breezy HR (tested 9/10) wins if a visual pipeline matters more. If you live inside the Zoho suite or need the Forever Free tier, staying is defensible.

Zoho Recruit alternatives: the short answer

You picked Zoho Recruit because it was cheap and you were already paying Zoho for something else. That logic holds right up until the recruiting itself gets serious. For most small teams the best Zoho Recruit alternative is Manatal (tested 9/10): a standalone ATS with AI sourcing included at $15/user/mo billed annually (see plans), no suite required. Breezy HR (tested 9/10) wins if a drag-and-drop pipeline and a real free plan matter more. And if you live inside Zoho One, staying is a defensible answer this page takes seriously.

Of the pages ranking for this query when I benchmarked it (22 July 2026), the top results are a vendor ranking itself first, Zoho’s own site, and research-based listicles; none reports hands-on testing, and none prints Zoho’s two different price lists side by side. Both are below.

Why people look past Zoho Recruit

Three reasons come up that I can actually document. The free tier has one defining limit: 1 active job per recruiter license, per Zoho’s own pricing pages (captured 22 July 2026). That makes Forever Free genuinely free for a founder hiring one role at a time, and a paywall the moment a second role opens.

The second is edition confusion. Zoho Recruit is two products wearing one name: a corporate HR edition and a staffing-agency edition with different tiers and different prices (tables below). Buy the wrong one and you’re either bolting portals back on as paid add-ons or paying for agency machinery you’ll never open.

The third is polish under load. In a December 2025 Reddit thread weighing Zoho Recruit against Manatal, a solo recruiter called the in-app communication features of both platforms “very unreliable”. One voice, and it covers both tools, so read it as a polish warning for this budget tier rather than a Zoho-only failing. What the buyer record does show about Zoho specifically: in the Capterra reviews I log, Zoho Recruit appears as the considered-but-not-chosen option against Breezy, with price as the tiebreaker.

The two price lists Zoho shows you

Both tables are as rendered on Zoho’s own pages on 22 July 2026, US dollars. Corporate HR edition first (pricing page):

Corporate editionPer user/month (annual)Active jobs per license
Forever Free$01
Standard$1710
Enterprise$3520

Staffing-agency edition (staffing page):

Staffing editionAnnualMonthly
Standard$17$21
Professional$35$42
Enterprise$52$63

Add-ons price separately on both: employee license $5.84/mo, client portal $4/mo, video interviews $8 per job opening. The prices are honest and low; the catch is that the tiers gate the recruiting depth, and the add-ons reintroduce the per-thing metering that budget buyers came here to avoid. Every price on this site, with source and capture date, lives in the HR software pricing index.

Who should stay on Zoho Recruit

  • You run Zoho One. If your CRM, books and mail already live in Zoho, the integration argument is real and none of the alternatives below replicates it. Switching your ATS out of the suite buys you recruiting depth and costs you that plumbing.
  • You’re a solo founder hiring one role at a time. The Forever Free tier’s 1-active-job limit is exactly your shape, and $0 beats every alternative on this page.
  • You’re a small desk on the staffing Standard plan. At $17 per recruiter, annualised, it’s among the cheapest agency-shaped tools with client portals available as add-ons. If the tool frustrates you but the bill doesn’t, price your exit carefully against the tables above.

If none of those is you, the alternatives below are where the recruiting itself gets better.

How I chose these

Scores on this site exist only for tools that have been through a real hiring run on my own account; the method is documented in how WiserStaff tests tools. Manatal (9/10) and Breezy HR (9/10) are tested hands-on, through the same live junior-developer role, and Tellent (8/10) through a lighter trial run with a published job and a sample-candidate pipeline. Workable and JazzHR are researched from their own published pages with capture dates and carry no scores. Affiliate links are disclosed above this content; Manatal and Breezy carry them, the others don’t. If you’re hiring for clients rather than for your own team, the agency-side ATS picks page ranks this market for your persona, with Zoho Recruit as its budget pick; and if you landed here as a job seeker, none of this applies to you, the what is an ATS entry explains what these systems do with your application.

The best Zoho Recruit alternatives in 2026

Manatal

The standalone upgrade. Manatal is what the recruiting layer looks like when it isn’t a suite module: AI candidate scoring and sourcing included from the entry plan, a candidate CRM built in, and social and LinkedIn sourcing via a browser extension. I tested it on a real role: its AI search returned 106 ranked matches and the pipeline ran through to a hire, detailed in the Manatal review (9/10).

AI candidate matching inside the tested Manatal account, showing 78% and 75% match scores with skill breakdowns; this is the capability Zoho Recruit's corporate grid reserves for its Enterprise tier Professional costs $19/user/mo, or $15 billed annually (captured July 2026), which undercuts Zoho’s staffing Professional tier while including the AI matching Zoho’s own corporate plan grid lists under Enterprise (captured 22 July 2026). The honest caveat comes from the same Reddit thread quoted above: add-on features can climb the bill, so price the plan you’ll actually run, not the entry sticker. Try Manatal or read the full test first.

Breezy HR

The visual pipeline. Breezy trades Zoho’s configurability for speed: a drag-and-drop pipeline your hiring managers understand in one sitting, tested hands-on at 9/10 in the Breezy review on the same live role. Two things matter for a Zoho Recruit leaver. Its Bootstrap plan is genuinely free for one active position, the same shape as Zoho’s Forever Free. And its paid plans are flat per company, not per user, so adding a hiring manager never adds a line to the bill; that’s the pricing-model escape if Zoho’s per-recruiter metering is what wore you down. Reporting depth is its known ceiling, which the review covers honestly. See Breezy’s plans or start with the tested verdict.

Tellent

The Recruitee successor, now tested. Tellent is what Recruitee became, and Recruitee is a name Zoho Recruit shoppers know: in a 2020 buyer review from my log, an HR director picked it over a shortlist that included Zoho Recruit for its “unlimited users” flat pricing. Treat that as history, though: Tellent’s current pricing page (checked 22 July 2026) publishes three plans, Start, Advance and Optimize, with no dollar figures, and states that pricing scales with your employee count behind a demo. I’ve since run its 18-day trial myself, publishing a real job and working a sample pipeline, and scored it 8/10 in the full Tellent review: a fast, likeable ATS whose price you still can’t learn without a sales call.

Workable

The big-network option. Workable is the heavyweight here: a large job-board network and mature tooling, priced by total company headcount from $299/mo (its published page, captured July 2026), with AI credits metered on top. That model punishes small teams that hire rarely, which is exactly the trade the Workable alternatives round-up unpacks. Untested by me, no score.

JazzHR

The per-posting name. JazzHR prices by open jobs, not users: Hero at $1,000/yr with postings starting at about 3 a month, per its published page captured 17 July 2026, with feature add-ons on top. Coming from Zoho’s per-recruiter model, that’s a different bet entirely: cheap if you rarely hire, metered the moment you scale hiring up. It’s the tool people leave for the opposite reason, and the JazzHR alternatives tear-down covers that exit. Untested, no score.

For agency desks comparing heavier machinery (Recruit CRM, Crelate, Loxo, or Bullhorn itself), the Bullhorn alternatives page works that end of the market, including what leaving Bullhorn costs.

How to switch ATS without losing your candidates

  1. Export everything while you still can. Candidates, notes, and attachments, in CSV plus documents; do it before cancelling, and check what your data-retention obligations require you to keep or delete.
  2. Map your pipeline stages first. Recreate your stages in the new tool before importing, so candidates land in the right place instead of a single unsorted pile.
  3. Re-post jobs from the new system. Job-board postings don’t transfer; let old postings expire and publish fresh ones so applications flow into the new pipeline only.
  4. Run the overlap for one hiring cycle. Keep read access to Zoho Recruit until every active candidate has either progressed or been closed out in the new tool.

Which Zoho Recruit alternative is right for you?

Buy the shape, not the brand. A standalone ATS with AI in the base price: Manatal, tested 9/10. A pipeline anyone can run, billed flat: Breezy, tested 9/10. The Recruitee lineage: Tellent, tested 8/10. Reach over price: Workable. Pay per job, not per person: JazzHR. And if the suite is the point, staying on Zoho Recruit and spending the savings elsewhere is a legitimate way out of this page. FAQ

Which is better: Bullhorn or Zoho Recruit?

They play in different weight classes. Bullhorn is agency infrastructure: recruitment CRM plus ATS at a published $99 to $165 per user a month, with implementation and training on top, built for established staffing firms. Zoho Recruit's staffing edition starts at $17 per recruiter a month billed annually, with a Forever Free tier. A small desk watching overhead starts at Zoho's end; a scaling agency that bills through its CRM ends up at Bullhorn's. The full tear-downs of both ecosystems are on this site.

Is Zoho Recruit really free?

There is a genuine Forever Free tier, with one hard limit that defines it: 1 active job per recruiter license, per Zoho's own pricing pages captured 22 July 2026. For a solo founder hiring one role at a time, that's usable. The moment two roles are open at once, you're on Standard, which is when the comparison with alternatives starts for real.

How much does Zoho Recruit cost?

It depends which Zoho Recruit you mean, because there are two price lists. The corporate HR edition, captured 22 July 2026: Free $0, Standard $17, Enterprise $35 per user a month billed annually. The staffing-agency edition, same capture date: Standard $17, Professional $35, Enterprise $52 per recruiter a month billed annually ($21, $42 and $63 monthly). Add-ons price separately: employee license $5.84 a month, client portal $4 a month, video interviews $8 per job opening.

Is Zoho Recruit an ATS or a CRM?

Both, depending on the edition. The corporate edition is an applicant tracking system for internal HR teams. The staffing-agency edition layers client and candidate portals on top, which pushes it toward the recruitment-CRM side that agencies need. That split is also why its two editions carry different tiers and prices.

Why do people switch away from Zoho Recruit?

The recurring, documentable reasons: the Forever Free tier caps at one active job per license, so real hiring means paying; the two-edition split makes it easy to buy the wrong shape; and in a December 2025 Reddit discussion comparing it with Manatal, a recruiter called the in-app communication features of both platforms unreliable. Teams deep in other Zoho products usually stay, and that's rational: suite integration is the product's strongest argument.

Who's behind this

Real experience, tested in public

I’ve run structured hiring end to end: writing the role, screening with an ATS, two-stage interviews, and a graduate-intake program for a large organization. I also designed the onboarding automation that fired the moment a candidate was marked Hired, covering contract, IT and account provisioning, the first-week plan, the welcome, and the feedback loop. Here I rebuild those same flows in the affordable tools a small team can actually run, and document what I built, what broke, and what it saved. Everything is tested with my own accounts, no sponsorships.
