Affiliate disclosure

Some links on WiserStaff are affiliate links. If you click one and buy, I may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. That's it. This page explains exactly how that works, so you always know where I stand when I recommend a tool.

How affiliate links work here

When I link to a tool I'm an affiliate for, the link runs through a clean redirect on this site (a /go/<tool> link) before sending you to the vendor. If you then sign up or buy, the vendor pays me a referral commission. You pay the same price you'd pay going direct; the commission comes out of the vendor's side, never yours.

Where affiliate links appear, and where they never do

Affiliate links only appear inside editorial recommendations: tool reviews, "best of" round-ups, head-to-head comparisons, and the occasional guide where a specific tool is the honest answer. They never appear in the glossary, on legal pages, or in anything I write off this site, such as guest articles or community posts, which carry no affiliate links at all.

How to spot an affiliate link

Affiliate links are marked for search engines as rel="sponsored", and every page that recommends a paid tool carries a short disclosure above the recommendation, not buried at the bottom. Not every link is an affiliate link: I link to plenty of tools I earn nothing from when they're the right answer.

Commissions never change my rankings

This is the line that matters. A commission never buys a better ranking, a softer verdict, or a spot on a "best" list. Independent: not owned by any vendor. Every verdict comes from tools I test with my own accounts and money. If the tool that pays me is the wrong pick for you, I say so, and I regularly recommend tools with no affiliate program at all when they're better.

Scores are set before commissions, not after

Every score on this site is decided from hands-on testing, never from a commission, and when a score moves it moves for editorial reasons only, with the change dated on the page. The proof is on the site right now: Gusto earns me nothing, because its affiliate program declined my application, yet its review stays live with a full verdict, tested 8/10 after a July 2026 re-score against the same 5-Signal method used everywhere here. Deel, which does pay a commission, scores the same 8/10. And the two highest scores on the site, Manatal and Breezy at 9/10, were both set before their programs were approved. When a program is pending or declined, the recommendation simply uses plain links instead of affiliate ones.

How I test, and when I haven't yet

I test tools with my own accounts and my own money, build a real workflow, and report what I actually measured. When a tool hasn't been tested hands-on yet, its page says "review in progress" rather than showing a score. I don't publish invented ratings or pricing to fill a gap. A recommendation only carries a verdict once I've used the tool myself.

Programs I work with

Today I earn commissions from Manatal (via Rewardful) and from Breezy HR, Deel, and Tellent (via PartnerStack). Other applications are pending or were declined; those tools are reviewed and linked exactly the same way, just without a commission. Being in a program never changes how a tool is rated against the others.

FTC & UK compliance

This disclosure is made in line with the U.S. FTC Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255) and UK CMA/ASA guidance on clearly identifying paid and affiliate relationships. The goal is simple: you should never be surprised to learn a link was an affiliate link.
